Advanced Cognitive Behavioral Therapy
CBT is currently the most endorsed, evidence-based psychological treatment.
It is a talking therapy that can help you manage your life problems. Talking and changing your behavior can change how you think (cognitive) and what you do (behaviour). This can make you feel better about life.
It encourages you to examine how your actions can affect how you think and feel.
CBT looks for practical ways to improve your state of mind on a daily basis. It deals with your current problems, rather than focusing on issues from your past as most other psychotherapies do.

Biofeedback / Neurofeedback
When you come to Adam Psychology services for neurotherapy, you will get the most scientifically advanced treatment of its type.
Most psychological therapies seek to guide peoples thinking and emotions by counselling and rational discussions. Biofeedback is a computer based method, training the subconscious physiological processes to normalize or improve individual’s mental, emotional or physical functioning.

Different Types of Biofeedback used to address physiological processes are:
- Thermal & Blood Pressure (regulating temperature or blood pressure)
- HRV – Heart Rate Variability (regulating inter-beat variation)
- EDR – Electrodermal (regulating skin resistance or conductivity)
- EMG – Electromyographic (modifying surface muscle tension or sEMG)
- HEG – Hemoencephalographic (increasing oxygenation of the brain)
- EEG – Electroencephalograhic biofeedback also known as Neurofeedback.
Neurofeedback
Neurofeedback is a very effective tool because it targets the brain – the central control of all our organs, thinking and behavior. Over the last six decades research demonstrated that neurofeedback produced effective results with many disorders including:
Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD/ADHD)Learning DisabilitiesAnxiety and Panic DisordersDepressionPosttraumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)Chronic Pain
Sleep problemsEpilepsy /SeizuresObsessive-Compulsive thinking and behaviour (OCD)Traumatic Brain Injury and ConcussionAddictions
Comprehensive Neurotherapy and Neurofeedback
When Dana Adam began to practice neurofeedback in the 1990’s, Neurofeedback practice was to attach 2 to 4 electrodes to the head, trying to help clients to increase or decrease magnitude (microvolt levels) in a chosen frequency band of the brain. When well applied and monitored, this method is relatively effective for simple disorders. Hence, most Australian neurofeedback providers still use this simple process.
However, since 1990 USA National Institute of Health had invested over 6 billion dollars in Human Brain Mapping research most of which targeted brain connectivity and symptoms linked to dysregulated brain networks. This knowledge is now applied to advanced neurofeedback technology. Currently, over 7000 clinicians world-wide, including research institutions and universities, the US military hospitals and veteran medical centers are practicing this whole-brain training known as Z-score or LORETA Neurofeedback addressing complex brain networks and connectivity with the full twenty electrode EEG brain training.
In this process, recording of your brainwaves is compared to a database of healthy subjects to identify dysfunctional locations and networks causing your problems. Your brain is then trained to modify and normalize not only the local voltage but also your brain’s networks and connections relevant to your symptoms.
If your problems require further intervention you may be introduced to other advanced neurotherapy methods such as Electro-magnetic field stimulation (Neurofield), tACS, tDCS, Infrared light, VieLight, etc.
Dana Adam was the first Australian Neurofeedback provider to acquire and train how to implement these highly sophisticated technologies. She travels regularly to USA and Europe to keep up to date with applications of Z-score neurofeedback and other cutting-edge neuroscience technology to be able to assist most complex conditions of her clients.

Eye Movement Desensitation and Reprocessing (EMDR) Therapy
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing) is an evidence based psychological treatment initially developed for the treatment of PostTraumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).
EMDR can work quicker than many other treatment. It reduces symptoms while conducted in the session. There is no need for ‘homework’. They are lasting over time.

Energy Therapy / NeuroField
The types of energy therapy used at Adam Psychology are scientifically founded methods mainly the Pulsed Electromagnetic Field (PEMF), such as Neurofield, or Far Infrared Light (FIR) based techniques e.g. VieLight.
Infra-red and far infra-red therapy (also part of the sunshine) involve the use of Infrared radiation, which use invisible waves of energy that penetrate deep into the of the body to promote body and brain systems and functions. It activates the cell’s energy (mitochondria). Your body then uses that energy to heal itself through its natural healing mechanisms. It is a non-invasive way to correct slight imbalances like a pulled muscle, chronic pain, but also chronic conditions like depression. Over time, it can bring about a more substantial change, including functional performance in arthritis patients or restoring an exhausted organ system, deteriorating brain functions in elderly or in diabetes.
Our main tool for Neurostimulation is Neurofield. It is one of the most sophisticated clinical system of this kind which comprises not only pulsed electro-magnetic field stimulation (PEMF) but also transcranial alternating current stimulation (tACS), transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS), or transcranial random noise stimulation (tRNS).
“The Energy Doctor,” Dr. Gary Ryan explains, “Based on a lot of research that was done at Yale, it is apparent that just about any pathology in the body is preceded by a drop in cell charge. Now we have technologies that will reach down to the level of a cell that has lost charge and, due to the high intensity of the pulse, bring that pulse back to normal or a more normal situation, which allows it to replicate and produce a more normal cells.”

Solution focused counselling
Solution focused therapy is a type of brief positive, future oriented intervention. If you have a definite current problem to resolve and you do not wanting to go into past psychodynamic processes, this is the problem solving method to assist you.
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy
Acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) teaches clients to accept what is out of their personal control and commit to actions that lead to the fullness and vitality of life. Emotional encounters can be accepted as the process of learning the range of human emotions with a kind, open, and accepting perspective and committing to change toward values-based actions that support well-being.
Cross-cultural counselling
Cross cultural counselling seek to understand cultural factors that may be relevant to you and your issues. While many aspects of human thought and behavior are universal, cultural differences can lead to often surprising variances in how people think, feel, and behave. Culture in which we grew influences our behavior, family interactions, education and social experiences.
